Vledax (and technically Human)
Since vledaxes live around humans, they don’t have districts the same way dyres do. Vleds typically follow the society and politics that humans also use. Outside of societal ranks and politics, their structure is considered Circular. (View bottom of page.) Like humans and dyres, they can be easy going and prone to treating everybody the same. They’ll use money to rent a home or own lands, rarely will scent mark outside of their properties and never inside buildings. If a vledax lives in the wild or among dyres, they’ll usually tend to use the Arch hierarchy.

Dyre
The main hierarchy, typically of a leading pair with their pups, siblings, extended family, or wanderers accepted into the district. Rank order is established and maintained through a series of ritualized fights, body posturing, stalking, staring, talking, growling, and howling, best described as ritual bluffing. Dyres with this structure prefer psychological acts to physical confrontations, meaning that leading status is based on personality and attitude rather than on size and physical strength. It's possible for some districts to use physical fighting to establish a new leader who accepted a challenge. Most districts usually have all members assist in raising the pups, but some may only have the females doing the job and they completely ignore the father. Most individuals will disperse once they reach sexual maturity.
Members aren't set with a single role and may have a few that change over time. Roles define a member's job and aren't set in stone.
Below is a list of common roles, although any district can have customs and variations not found in other districts.
Structure: Arch
Territory
Their homeland is often found in ruined cities as they can possess a great deal of food, water, and shelter. The territory may contain 12 to 20 adult dyres, depending on the carrying capacity of the area. Prey are usually small to medium in size and competing predators may share the same land if they pose no threats. The occupying dyres often use the ruins as den sites, food storage, and escape routes.

Structure: Arch
- Matriarch and Patriarch as gender specific & Parriarch as gender neutral.
The leaders are the main breeding pair (or siblings) who enforce a stable social order and keep others calm during a stressful situation. They're in charge of most hunting, decision making, and to maintain a healthy socialization within the district. The rest of the district usually follows them by their own choice. - Imperator
In large districts, they often have a second-in-command who takes charge of everyone when the Arches are away or unavailable. They may inherit the role of Parriarch if the current leaders step down. - Elder
The oldest have the most knowledge, thus so often aid the district in decision making, and teach the young valuable skills.
- Watcher / Sentinel
Watchers often patrol the territory, mark borders, stand guard, and are usually the first to fight intruders.
Sentinels are more on the sly, using speed and staying in the shadows when on patrols. They remain unseen and report what they've found. - Neet
Members who don't contribute to the district the same way as the other roles. They can be pups, elders, or disabled adults. Any that cannot care for themselves. You don't have to do something ""productive"" to be family. [See Shanidar 1 example.] - Medic
Members with the greatest knowledge in medicine and its applications. They take care of injuries, cleanness, and reduce disease spread. - Techy
Members who are knowledgeable with tools and technology. They often do repairs around the territory. - Caretaker
Puppysitters, mothers who still feed their young, and guardians of the younglings. - Spiritualist
Leader of the spiritual practices. Can be one or two.

A district made of easy going juveniles or few adults, in which role order shifts almost constantly. Dog A dominates Dog B, who dominates Dog C, who dominates Dog A. Territory is often a small area. Members may assign roles like the Arch structure.

Structure: Wanderer
A lone or few dyres without a territory who usually scavenge and travel long distances. May be called Marauder if said dyres have a tendency to murder and plunder.
